FT. MARKU LEONE

A Discussion with Marku | 3-20-24

WHAT'S YOUR STORY AND HOW DID YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

It all began during my childhood, where I found joy in playing the piano at church. Throughout high school, this passion for creativity flourished, leading me to venture into the world of entrepreneurship by starting my own clothing brand.

During this time my cousin Larry also suggested that I try making my own beats.

Eight years have passed since that pivotal moment, and I haven't looked back since. Making beats became more than just a hobby, it became a way of life. With each rhythm and melody, I found myself in a world of imagination and possibilities. I am certain of one thing though, I will continue to make music for the rest of my life, embracing every moment of this  journey with  enthusiasm and creativity.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CREATIVE SPACE?

My journey into the creative space was inspired by those around me. As I started making music, I connected with local creatives, including up-and-coming artists, whose passion fueled my own. Today, sitting in Habit Burger Grill in LA, I'm reminded that my journey, born from a dream at 16, continues to unfold alongside other dreamers who share my passion for creation.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS YOU'RE WORKING ON?

Absolutely! Currently, my focus is on crafting my debut album, which is the reason I made the journey out here to LA. Immersing myself in the creative scene of this city has been invaluable, allowing me to gain feedback from those who are living the dream themselves. Through this process, I've gained insights that will undoubtedly shape my upcoming projects. I'm excited to announce that my next release is expected to drop later this year, and I have a feeling it's something you won't want to miss.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE, WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS?

In the future, I envision myself flying across the world, collaborating with fellow creatives who share my passion for art, design, film, and music. My goal is to immerse myself in diverse cultures and landscapes, learning to craft spaces and evoke emotions that resonate deeply with people.

I see myself having homes in various locations, from Malibu to New York City, and maybe in Japan. Ultimately, I aspire to embrace everywhere I go.

IF THERE'S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO SOMEONE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

If there's one piece of advice I could share with someone, it would be to not wait. Learn to trust yourself, get to know who you are, and embrace the journey of self-discovery. Throughout my own path, I've realized that reinventing myself countless times has only made me stronger and more fulfilled with each iteration.

At 24, I feel that there's no perfect time for anything. Age is just a number; what truly matters is living life without boundaries or limits. I've learned that growth isn't about growing old but about embracing every moment.
